8.8 out of 10 Rating from CHHReview.com (Christian Hip Hop Review)

8.8 out of 10 Rating from CHHReview.com (Christian Hip Hop Review) R-Swift is back in the building with his third major album release (following Revolutionary Theme Muzik in 2006, and Soapbox in 2008) titled "Anthem." Overall, "Anthem" is a delicately balanced mixture of both high energy songs as well as some more laid back songs as well. Fans of R-Swift's previous two albums will most likely agree that overall, this latest release is the most laid back of R-Swift's works. That is not to say that Swift's blazing hot rhyme assaults do not make a bold mark on this project. Songs like "Anthem", "Trap Muzik", "Back Up", and "Awesome" prove that Swift is like a crouching lion ready to strike whenever the opportunity presents itself. R-Swift demonstrates his more subdued side and proves his versatility as an artist on "The Beginning" - a powerful track with a captivating and slightly ominous beat on which Swift expounds upon the realities of a sin tainted world. A world where sin is present within the human nature even from birth. In my mind, the stand out tracks on this album include "The Beginning", "No No No", "Trap Muzik", "Back Up", "That Girl", and last, but furthest from least, "Awesome." "Awesome" does an absolutely incredible job of moving the listeners heart, mind, and soul towards worshipping the God of the universe and his indescribably beautiful son, Jesus Christ. This song will surely go down as being one of my all time favorites. This album has earned a Silver Medal from CHHReview.com and is a very highly recommended addition to any hip hop fan's collection. Here is a detailed breakdown of the album, where each individual song is rated: 1. Swift in the box ft. Briana Carter - 8/10 2. Anthem - 9 3. The Beginning - 9.5 4. They Callin (Interlude) - no rating 5. They Callin - 8.5 6. Dear Mr. President - 8.5/10 7. No No No ft. Jahaziel, Sho Baraka, Monty G - 9.5/10 8. Flava of Forever ft. Theory Hazit, kj52, Braille - 8.5/10 9. Shattered ft. Eric Westbrook - 8/10 10. Trap Muzik - 9.5/10 11. Transformed - 8.5/10 12. Held Me Down ft. Jai - 8.5/10 13. Chased - 8/10 14. Back Up ft. JAZ, Young Joshua - 9.5/10 15. That Girl ft. Psalmizt, Butta P - 9.5/10 16. Awesome - 10/10

Nearly Speechless...

Alright, I expected this album to be great, better than his previous two efforts (artists usually get better by album), especially when I heard the track "Awesome God" prior to the release and had all my friends listen to it and absolutely love it. But I wasn't ready for this album in its entirety. Solid from beginning to end, with beautiful, much needed east-coast beats, impressionable lyrics, exciting features (for instance, KJ-52? On a smooth track like "Flava of Forever"? The "Great Wall" is surely breaking down...)- If you had witnessed my initial reaction listening to this album you would have wondered why you weren't clicking "Buy Album" right then. As an avid music listener who loved artists like Young Jeezy, System of a Down (no lie), Gnarls Barkley and Gwen Stefani before realizing that although the artists' sounds were amazing, their lifestyles didn't reflect the God-fearing lifestyle I was trying to live- and now listens to Project 86, J.R., John Reuben and R-SWIFT, you can definitely take my unbiased word for it when I say, buy this album. I dare you to regret the purchase, this album has appeal to 2009 but also has high classic potential. Definitely a contendor for Hip-Hop Album of the year. Enjoy!

So Slept On

This brother made an excellent album in the mist of extreme adversity. I made sure i got this album on the day it came out and drove 30 miles to get it and purchased it online. I'm so tired of brothas like Swift being slept on. This is a must have. Keep glorifying Christ.
