Album Review

Having left the band Great Buildings, Danny Wilde struck out on his own and delivered Any Man's Hunger in the late '80s. While "Time Runs Wild" and the title cut got moderate airplay, it was Wilde's tongue-in-cheek "Contradiction" which stole the spotlight, sending up the U.S.' involvement in Central America in a not too flattering spotlight. Full of good, hard-rockin', pop tunes, "Any Man's Hunger" is a fine first solo effort from an emerging singer/songwriter. It's refreshing listening.

STILL loving this CD!

I can't believe this album is almost 20 years old. I STILL listen to it frequently. Just simply good music, with very strong melodies that will stay in your head all day long. His follow up to this, not available on ITunes, was very good too, and then he formed the Rembrandts, whose first two albums were outstanding. (Notice I didn't say subsequent albums - what happened Danny?) Anyway, I would highly recommend the hit, "time runs wild", "wouldn't be the first time", "bitter moon", "set me free", and "every goodbye"

Any Man's Hunger

Being a huge fan of Wilde going back to The Quick days, this is a nice pop record at best.Great vocals, this is were Wilde never fails.

songs remain some of Wilde's best

start to finish this is a rock album that has held the test of time. Wouldn't Be The First Time & Ain't I Good Enough are worth the price of admission alone. The self-titled follow up is just as strong. highly recommended

Biography

Born: June 3, 1956 in Maine

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s, '90s

Danny Wilde was a founding member of the sadly overlooked The Quick, a now-legendary power pop band which featured future members of the Cruzados, The Three O'Clock, and The Weirdos. Their debut LP, Mondo Deco, made them one of the first L.A. D.I.Y. bands to record for a major label (Mercury), but it proved to be the only such release. The EP Alpha/Beta, recorded in an unsuccessful bid to score a new deal with Elektra, was released through their fan club in 1978, and the band soon called it quits....
