Awesome.
First saw these guys on the Colbert Report, like most here in the U.S. probably did. I was instantly hooked on their catchy beats, heavy swing-era jazz influences, and rapid-fire Swedish lyrics. I couldn't understand a thing they said, but MAN do these guys make me want to. Very clever and innovative fusion of hip-hop beats/vocals and jazz melodies, instruments, and backgrounds. As the group says, "They say hip-hop was born in the Bronx, but the Bronx was born in Sweden!"
Best Foreign Music I've Ever Heard
This does not fit into ANY Genre. It's mostly jazz, but the vocals are rapped, and of course it's all in Swedish... I have the whole album-every song is extremely catchy and you can listen through the whole thing in one sitting, it's so good. Of anything I've heard, there's never been so much genre-hopping. There will never be a US musician that makes music like this...Buy the album! i strongly reccommend Ta Pa Dig Dansskorna, Fel del Av Garden and of course Appelknyckarjazz (best title ever) Thank you Stephen Colbert!!!
Swedish hiphop/swing/jazz... what's not to like?
It's like these guys took several genres of music I love--hip hop/rap, jazz, swing and pop beats-- did an interesting mashup and added their own Swedish twist to create something that could truly be addicting. Don't mind the fact that all the words are in Swedish--the groove will totally draw you in. And of course, we have the Colbert Report and Mr. Stephen Colbert himself to thank for introducing these guys to us in the States... Tip of the Hat to Stephen and Movits! =)
