Album Review

Say what you like about the movie itself — beginning with the scientific idiocy infecting the whole piece — Trevor Rabin's score for Armageddon is a nifty piece of work, despite the periodic appearance of his screaming lead guitar. Rabin has done an excellent job here of creating a score that supports a film that spends much of its time doing the flawed-men-against-impossible-odds routine. There are moments of sensitivity here and there, though the project itself hardly allowed for subtlety — the themes are suitably grand (and grandiose), performed with energy, and given plenty of adrenalin-triggering flourishes (as well as a lot of support from a battery of crisp snare drums.) As a nice bonus, the CD uses the CD-TEXT protocol, which provides the track titles via the main display of CD-TEXT-enabled players — unfortunately, the album title is misspelled as "Amrageddon." Dropped a rock, there, boys.

I Agree

Armageddon is my FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL-TIME!!! The music is amazing as well... that's why I'm getting this soundtrack :-) If you haven't seen Armageddon... you haven't seen ANYTHING.

Amazing

This movie was incredible, and the soundtrack is just as good. My favorites: Long Distance Goodbye/Landing and Armageddon Suite.

Especially Moving

This is one of the most beautiful scores I have ever had the pleasure to listen to. All of the songs are great, and fit in extremely well with the movie. Most particularly are my favourites: 'Armageddon Piano" (even though it is only 36 seconds long, it is the most beautiful on the soundtrack), 'Launch' (the part of the movie where I begin to cry), and 'Long Distance Goodbye / Landing' (of which is the best part in the movie). If you are looking for an exceptional movie score, look no further--Trevor Rabin has composed some gorgeous music right here.
