Best Band that You Haven Heard

I discovered this band's first offering, 'The Movie' by accident almost two years ago and have been waiting for new material ever since. Hopefully, their sophomore effort 'Arrow' will get the word out. Until then, Clare and the Reasons is the best American band you've never heard. The music is a hypnotic mix including elements of Billie Holiday, Brian Wilson and pre-War nostalgic innocence. Their retro vibe never sounds derivitive though.

Clare's angelic and bubbly voice is supported by lush arrangements of strings, guitars, organ, kazoos, horns, whistling...even a saw. The brilliant song writing is matched only by the amazing orchestration. 'Arrow' is a perfect mood setter- the soundtrack for a pensive mood.

I hear

A bit of the Kate Bush inspiration ;)

Genius
