Possessed by dazzling lyrical flows and production, this British/Sri Lankan MC is a unique performer and unlikely but welcome byproduct of globalization. Influenced by dancehall, hip-hop, garage and bhangra, M.I.A. is a child of the world, hop-scotching across multiple genres, but always informed by sharp political and cultural consciousness. Along with the amazing crossover smash "Galang," M.I.A. asserts herself most potently on sure shots "Bucky Done Gun," "Fire Fire," "Pull Up the People," and "Sunshowers."

Fabulously eclectic
by RCR18M.I.A. is truly a strange musician, blending elements, of electronic, hip hop, and world music into her songs. She sings about politics while still having beats that make you want to dance. This is a great album, the best songs of which are Galang, Sunshowers, MIA, Bucky Done Gun, and URAQT.
