Album Review

Sonically, Kiss retained their revitalized roar throughout Asylum, turning in a tough but supple performance that would have been more impressive if the songs were stronger.

Great Album

I don't know why people don't like this album. All of Paul Stanley's vocals on this are very strong. Gene Simmons on the other hand could use some work. The Songs in order from best to worst. Who Wants to Be Lonely Uh! All Night Tears Are Falling King of the Mountain Radar For Love Any Way You Slice It Love's A Deadly Weapon I'm Alive Trial By Fire Secretly Cruel

Kiss' Asylum (1985)

Not's Kiss' best moment, but far from their worst. Coming right on the heels of a successful tour, and their comeback album, "Animalize," "Asylum" had a lot to live up to, and I think many critics judged the album a little too harshly. Let's face it, with the exception of "The Elder," Kiss was never a band whose songs had deep meaning... The best of the lot on this album are "Who Wants to be Lonely," "Trial by Fire," "Tears are Falling," "Radar for Love," and "Uh, All Night." Good songs -- great Kiss songs. The rest are simply filler. Gene Simmons admits that he wasn't into the music at this time as he was into acting. Fortunately, he saw the light and came back to the music. The issues with this album? With no Ace, no Peter, and Bruce and Eric as hired guns, the personality had gone out of the band. And as for the album cover -- one of the worst Kiss covers ever. But the end result is the music and you have more good than bad here. three and a half stars.

1985 not 1983

Do you notice that Itunes does a very poor job of dating alums? How hard is it to turn the album over and look at the date?

Rooted in the campy theatrics of Alice Cooper and the sleazy hard rock of glam rockers the New York Dolls, Kiss became a favorite of American teenagers in the '70s. Most kids were infatuated with the look of Kiss, not their music. Decked out in outrageously flamboyant costumes and makeup, the band fashioned a captivating stage show featuring dry ice, smoke bombs, elaborate lighting, blood spitting, and fire breathing that captured the imaginations of thousands of kids. But Kiss' music shouldn't be...
