An album full of good songs

     

There is something on this album for everyone! Well-constructed lyrics full of optimism, a ballad, phenomenal guitar solos, a country-esque twanger, and even a quirky rock instrumental, “FALL APART”.  I enjoyed every song start to finish. “CHASING THINGS” combines a catchy rhythm and pop flair while staying masterfully true to its unmistakable jazz roots.  Another notable song would have to be the heart-wrenching, yet surprisingly hopeful, ballad “SUNLIGHT”.  “OPEN HEART” has a country overtone along with an unexpected un-chorus-like chorus. We all know that perspective is a part of music, but perspective is reinvented in “FALLING OFF THE WORLD” and “WHAT YOU WANTED”. While “FALLING OFF THE WORLD” brings freshness to the father-son story, “WHAT YOU WANTED” examines life from the eyes of a teenager. And that’s not all. I would be remiss if I didn’t give a hefty nod to the top-ten potential songs “PROMISED” and “ROOM TO CHANGE”.  Other don’t miss favorites include “IN MY EYES”, “THE WORLD IS LISTENING” and the abrupt, leave-you-wanting-more, stunning finale “SHOULD HAVE BEEN”. It’s certainly a diverse, original album, and a fine example of Robin's genuine artistry. When I get to the end, I want to go back to the beginning. Again and again. Could I ask for anything more? Just that next time we'll be treated to more of Robin's electrifying guitar work – only eluded to here – most notably in “OTHERWISE” and “PROMISED”.
