i can dig it
I'm really into the polyrythmic heavy 8 string stuff i.e. Meshuggah, Periphery and Textures. That's a pretty high standard to live up to in the world of proggy (not soggy!) metal. Have to admit, when this popped up as a recommendation for me, i sorta scoffed at it. After listening to it I must say it's pretty cool. Not quite the level of intensity i've become used to, but still good grooves and melodies powered by elite musicianship. The arrangements are tastefully done and the production value is worthy. There's definitely a handful of cliffnotes from Fredrik Thordendall's bible of metal to be heard on this cd. Some might say it's a "lifted" style from Meshuggah - but let's face it, Thordendall and his crazy group of swedes have started a revolution and this sort of thing is unavoidable. I dig it!!!
Amazing
One of the best instrumental guitar CDs I've picked up this year. A must have if you dig Animals As Leaders, Periphery, Meshuggah, and other 8-string maniacs.
