A great look back and forward

9/10

A great album from Blind Guardian. It manages to be both a recap of their previous work and a look forward for the band. Songs like Sacred and Wheel make me very excited for the upcoming orchestral Lord of the Rings album. I disagree with a previous reviewer, as I don't think they've been "on the decline", and indeed I really liked ANatO, but while this isn't stylistically as cohesive as that album, it's definitely the most solid overall album since Nightfall. This album gets me excited about what's coming next, something ATitM, though I loved some of it's songs, failed to do.

Change is good

Blind guardian has changed so much in its 22 years, starting at speed metal and now being a more musically inclined band. Hansi's voice is in great form here. I wish the songs werent as long, cut the fat a bit. Still a strong album. I reccomend buying the whole album, but if not the singles i like are "Ride into Obsession" and "Control the Divine"

Returning to old territory

Blind Guardian has been on a decline for the last ten years or so but with At The Edge of Time, they're regaining their old sound. They finally return in part to Somewhere Far Beyond territory. Ride Into Obsession is the crown jewel of this album. It's easily the best song they've done in at least ten years.

They signed with the No Remorse label and issued Battalions of Fear in...
