Album Review
With a name like Something Corporate, this outfit set themselves up as sitting ducks for rock critics who like nothing better than leading a hapless young band to slaughter. This release wasn't as faceless as their name portended, but they did have some standard issue major-label pop/punk/alternative rock features to their approach. Singer/songwriter Andrew McMahon is the focal point on this six-song debut EP, which is often given over to the yearn-whine of fresh high-school graduates. That's especially true of "iF yoU C Jordan," which actually kicks off, "I have a story, a bitter anthem for everyone to hear, about this kid who just don't like me." Most of us have been picked on at some times in our lives, too, but do we really want to be reminded of it with such blatant posturing? Where they did differ from the pack is their emphasis on McMahon's piano, though there's plenty of modern rock guitar muscle on most of the cuts. The closer, "Walking By," largely discards the usual rock lineup for a piano-string arrangement. It made one wonder if McMahon's true forte would turn out to be as a more sensitive singer/songwriter rather than as the leader of a bratty, um, corporate rock band.

I cannot speak more highly of this ep! It has the most wonderful song that I would have never heard had I not had iTunes. While the songs "Hurrican," "If You C Jordan," and "Punk Rock Princess" are all on the Something Corporate Album "Leaving Through the Window," there are three precious jems to be had of this album. The first is "Bad Days." This song soooooo deserved to be on their upcoming record because it really has the SoCo sound. The angst, the piano, and the great lyrics. The second precious jem, in my humble opinion, is even better than the first because of the powerful insights and comparisons in the lyrics. Also, the music is much more powerful than the general pop/punk music heard these days. And finally, the reason I gave this ep five stars: Walking By. The lyrics to this song are what put SoCo head shoulders above the rest. The wonderful storyteling and the less-is-more piano arrangement is just spectatular. But don't take my word for it. Buy this album!! You won't regret it!
SOMETHING CORPORATE IS THE BEST! NO JOKE LISTEN UP
This band is amazing! (mostly because of vocals but i have to give props to the other musicians) Andrew's voice is just soothing as many put it!! Please listen to Konstantine for me! YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPPOINTED ITS THE MOST AMAZING SONG EVER! If you love Something Corporate or Andrew's voice then Konstantine will most likely become your favorite song! JACK'S MANNEQUIN IS GOOD TOO! ~Power to the old music and not just what's on the "charts"~
Nice Debut From My Favorite Band Ever...
"Audioboxer" is an album to purchase just because of the cover...a burning piano. It's awesome. Anyways, the music is, well, Something Corporate. Half of these have new versions of them on "Leaving Through The Window"...and well they are better there as well. "Bad Days" is great. "Its been a bad day, another bad day, and all i wanna do is look at you and know i'm ok". "Little" is fun. The best though is without a doubt "Walking By". This is one of my favorite Something Corporate songs ever. Probably a top 3. If you're a casual fan then only buy "Bad Days" and "Walking By". If you're a huge fan, you already have it, and if you don't then you're not a true fan. This is a must get for SoCo fans because its were it all started, (not including "Ready...Break). Pick it up.
