What Jazz (fusion)is all about

I'm shocked no one has written a review on this beautiful work of art,the musicians were a very tight group,Excellent is all i can say to express this album, that I have been listening to at least one a month over the last 30 plus years. If you read the album review above you'll notice the names of great musicians who went on to perform with other top acts, the guitarist (Genesis,Phil Collins),the Bassist (Frank Zappa)the keyboardist (Solo Career),the drummer (other top acts).I am a fan of Jean Luc Ponty and love his many works.Hey itunes any possibility you could put Mystical Adventures on here....peace

Great Fusion

I purchased the vinyl in 1976 and played it till the grooves have worn out. I loved it then and I love it now!

One of Ponty

Wow, I can't believe this album is 36 yrs old. This is one of my all time favorite jazz albums. Fantastic band, with some truly virtuoso performances. Amazing compositions. But what I love is, for all it's technical greatness, it doesn't come off as intellectual or complicated, it just plays well from beginning to end, with great funk, rhythm, melody, moods, and inspired interplay between the musicians. It also comes off like a live performance, but with studio quality sound. Ponty shares the spotlight as an equal with Stuermer and Rushen, and they deliver. The mid 70's produced some very cool progressive jazz albums, and for me, this is one of the landmarks.

It has been a long, fascinating odyssey for Jean-Luc Ponty, who started out as a straight jazz violinist only to become a pioneer of the electric violin in jazz-rock in the '70s and an inspired manipulator of sequencers and synthesizers in the '80s. At first merely amplifying his violin in order to be heard, he switched over to electric violin and augmented it with devices that were associated with electric guitarists and keyboardists, like Echoplex machines, distortion boxes, phase shifters, and...
