Two of the most universally respected OGs in New York hip-hop history, Premier and Bumpy Knuckles have both been doing it since the '80s, putting out tons of classic material and building with a wide array of artists. Though they're living legends to true-school hip-hop heads, neither has sold out, crossed over, or gotten soft. They've worked together several times before (most notably on Gang Starr's "The Militia" and the epic Industry Shakedown album), and their white-hot chemistry has been evident since day one. On this EP they team for two songs, and both are outstanding. "B.A.P." kicks off with a shoutout to fallen homie Headqcourterz before exploding with punchy kicks, chopped funk horns, razor-sharp cuts, and Bumpy's ever-rambunctious flow. "OwNit" is on the mellower tip, built on languid piano loops and some casual-but-dope turntable chicanery. Awesome as expected, it's the perfect appetizer for the main course: their highly anticipated collabo album The Kolexxxion.
