heres what you gotta do
this was incredibly genius, but what do you expect from this band. ok, take all three tracks into on program(like garage band, or something) and play them allll at the same time. it's really only one song. they just split it up. have fun.
Kinda disappointing...
I love Sigur Rós. Alot. I have gone weeks without listening to anything else, but this EP kind of strayed from the beautiful melodies present on their other albums. "Ti Ki" was good-ish, but"Ba Ba" is very good. Unless you are a DIEHARD FAN (which I am), you don't need to buy Di Do; even if you do, you probably still won't like it. "Di Do" kinda reminds me of the strange instrument peices that Tool puts on their albums (except it is 5:42 instead of 1-2 minutes). This last song has no real melody and is full of wierd sounds, audible and inarticulate "lyrics", pretty sounds melded with swamp noises, and some messed up static that sounds like the begining of "Megalomaniac". It just goes on for too long (even though it is shorter than most of their songs) and I have trouble listening to it all the way through. Sigur Rós is my favorite band, but they just did not need to release Di Do.
brillant, you may want to know th context
This was written by Sigur Ros for a dance piece choreographed by the great Merce Cunningham. They used a xylophone made of pointe shoes, a music box, feedback, and other instrumnts to create it. It is performed as a 20 minute piece, thus it is better when you listen to the whole thing. It works brillantly with the movement, which is why people might not love it as a listening track alone. I personally do, but if you don't then try some other Sigur Ros. They shouldn't be typecast by this EP as it was not created with the original intent of releasing it as an EP.
