Best album I've heard this year
That's about all I can really say. Great fresh style, similar in a way to Gnarls Barkley although less obnoxious IMO. Check it out, it's worth the $$.
Fresh Funkified Falsetto
Alan Wilkis blends some retro grooves to create a very fresh and funky sound that never feels dated. Reminds me of some smooth Prince with a little quirky current hip electronica mixed in for good measure. Definitely gonna be in the stereo this spring!
Bend genres? Bend the universe!
Frankly, this record is like twelve tiny records. Each song lives in a different dimension kicking around a different set of rules, bound as a whole by the virtue that it's music for happy little demons. Usually, I draw a relative comparison and say, "if you like X, try Y," but this album is the entire alphabet, so there's something here for everyone. Especially people who enjoy a lot of letters.
