A Must Buy!!!

This album just shows the endless capabilities of Charlie Hunter to keep writing head bobbing, mind altering, and groove killing tunes. This album not only takes on the musical genius of Keyboardist Eric Deutch much like Mystico, but Charlie uncovers new realms of tight funk grooves that stick with you throughout the day. Tony Mason is right there with his in the pocket backbeats. There is great chemistry in this trio and if you have not had a chance to check them out live yet I highly recommend you do!!!! Charlie is definitely one of those artists that keeps it real, is under rated and plays for himself not the tabloids. If you are new to Charlie I highly recommend to start from the beginning of his collection and go forward.

Another great album by one of the greatest contemporary jazz artists of all time

WOOWOWOW. this man is amazing, i saw Charlie at the Great AMerican Music Hall last summer, and he played everything off this album. He has completely taken a new turn on his style, playing with Erik Deutsch, and Tony Mason for a couple of years now. This is one of his greatest works yet. BUY IT

Baboon Strength is a must-buy

Charlie's greatest effort in several years. It has elements of his earlier style, but is very different than anything he has ever put out. I have all his albums, and I must say that this is right up there with Songs From the Analog Playground and his self titled album as my favorites. Also good to check out is Return of the Candyman.

As a young guitarist growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, Charlie Hunter was looking for a way to stand out in the '80s. His primary influences were jazz great Joe Pass and the fluid Tuck Andress (of the guitar/vocal duo Tuck & Patti), both six-string guitarists who were adept at blending bass notes into their standard guitar melodies to make themselves sound like two musicians at once. But Hunter wanted to take it one step further, and set out to find an instrument on which he could simultaneously...
