Die Kunst Der Fuge...

Tatiana Nikolayeva plays "The Art Of Fugue" flawlessly. All the voices are clearly heard in each and every CONTRAPUNCTUS. Amazingly she used "less" pedal, and it seems like she never used them... This is the only recording that deservs more than 5 stars. Moscow Conservatoire gives Rachmaninov, Shostakovich and Tatiana Nikolayeva, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Nikolai Lugansky (Tatiana's beloved student at Moscow Conservatoire) ... All her Bach recording are superb, and better played than Glenn Gould.

Bach as Bach should be

What a wonderful recording! Just the way Bach was meant to be, with an abiding spiritual resonance, tempered and precise but not calculated or mathematical. This recording is much more palatable than Aimard's, which sounds forced or many of Gould's, who is always so psychotic or Hewitt, who just seems complacent.

Amazing

I am no expert, but this is truly best I've ever heard Bach played. I'm a big fan of Gould. This performance incorporates the nimble and evocative style of Gould and then one-ups him.
