Album Review

One of the best of all Cock Sparrer live recordings, Back Home was recorded at the 2003 Holidays in the Sun punk festival in Morecambe, England, and appropriately finds the band serving up a virtual career history. There's not a dull moment to be heard, just a non-stop blaze of power and energy, played out before an audience that seems to know every word of every song, and doesn't care who knows that. Excellent sound quality adds to the excitement, and anybody who has not experienced the joy of a Cock Sparrer concert should jam this disc into their player right now. Footage from this show, incidentally, can be found on the equally excellent What You See is What You Get DVD.

Get trashed and trash sh*t

This isn't a very good album, in my opinion, but "Because You're Young" is absolutely fanastic and should be played over loudspeakers in every public (and private) place in this country. Listen to it two times, and you will fall in love, or your money back >.>

One of the first Oi! bands, Cock Sparrer was playing loud, raw, Cockney working-class anthems as early as the first wave of British punk, although record company difficulties prevented them from issuing much material until the early '80s, when the Oi!movement was well underway. The group formed in London's East End in 1975, originally as a hard-edged pub rock combo in the vein of Dr. Feelgood.
