Moving forward!

There are many people saying many things about this album here. First off, NO, it doesn't sound like Ten, it's nothing like it. If Pearl Jam gave us another Ten, it would be out-of-date (It's 2009 now folks) and who wants more of the same anyway? Whenever a band puts out something new, they get two groups of nay-sayers. The first says "This is the same old junk, why can't they do something new?", and the second says "What is this? This isn't the band I loved, why can't they just do what they always did?"

This is an album that stands on it's own merits. People should treat every album that way, but hey, I can't change the world here. You've got something for everyone here, because the album represents a band that is trying new ideas and feeling out what it's next evolution will be. And maybe it's next evolution is that it's never going to put out an album that you expect again. For my money, the best track is a toss up between Unthought Known and The End, but each track is solid and clean, worth your purchase, and in the end it's a great ride to take. Keep em coming Pearl Jam, and I'll keep listening.

GREAT ALBUM

Let me start by saying that I am not a huge Pearl Jam fan. I'm a huge RUSH fan. So, its usually Rush and everything else for me. I really liked PJ's first 2 CD's and Vitalogy. The last few releases produced a few good tunes for my liking but Backspacer really delivers ! I can't stop listening to it. Every song is great. I would actually go pay to see them perform live if they ever come to town. Outside of Rush and Tool and perhaps Pink Floyd or Roger Waters (great live show from him btw) I usually don't make it out to concerts.

Take it for what its worth, I just hope I don't ruin this collection of tunes by over-playing them.
