iTunes Review

Disco diva Summer switched from the synth-driven sound of her earlier hits to a rockier edge with this album, released in 1979. Gone are the heavy breathing and orgasmic groans; instead, Summer sings powerfully over edgier rock and funk tracks. A double album, Bad Girls is a concept album featuring Summer as a "lady of the night." This theme resonates through two other massive hits, "Hot Stuff" and "Dim All the Lights," as well as the rest of the album. Stretching out both in sound and concept, this remains the finest album of Summer's career. This expanded version contains a wealth of remixes, plus a demo of "Bad Girls."

Donna's Bad is too good!

Along the way, reviews say that this or that greatest hits package for Donna Summer is the place to start your Donna Summer collection. I would have to disagree and say that Bad Girls is the best place to get a feel for what this superstar can give. Originally a double set album, Donna showcases tremendous vocal range, wonderful song writing ability (which few, if any, female contemporaries could accomplish), and a wide range of songs that seem to flow together. “Hot Stuff” , the Grammy winning best female vocal winner, opens the album with a rock. dance sound to get you going. “Walk Away” , “All Through The Night” and “Our Love” demonstrate the passion in her voice. “Dim All The Lights: has her holding a note like few can. With ballads, rock , R&B and dance songs, this package is one of the finest examples that any artist could ask for.

I LOVE HOT STUFF!!!!

DONNA SUMMER RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

One of the best disco albums EVER!!!

i can't believe i put off buying this album for so long!! every song on this album is Donna Summer at her best. sure, "Bad Girls", "Hot Stuff", and "Dim All the Lights" were the most popular songs off this album, but "Sunset People", "Walk Away", and "Journey to the Center of Your Heart" are just as great and worth buying as well. i recommend this album to anyone who appreciates REAL, GREAT music. i'm only 16 and even i know good stuff when i see (or hear) it!!

Donna Summer's title as the "Queen of Disco" wasn't mere hype — she was one of the very few disco performers to enjoy a measure of career longevity, and her consistent chart success was rivaled in the disco world only by the Bee Gees. Summer was certainly a talented vocalist, trained as a powerful gospel belter, but then again, so were many of her contemporaries. Of major importance in setting Summer apart were her songwriting abilities and her choice of talented collaborators in producers/songwriters...
