iTunes Review

After the unforeseen and unprecedented success of 1982’s Thriller, Michael Jackson had the impossible task of writing and recording the follow-up. Commercially, he couldn’t match the numbers, but artistically 1987’s Bad kept pace, expanding on the sonic challenges of 1979’s Off the Wall and Thriller without losing the radio-ready grooves that made Jackson an international star. The album begins with the playful and funky braggadocio of the title track and the stylishly robotic grind and upbeat thrill of “The Way You Make Me Feel”. Other obvious highlights are littered throughout. “Man in the Mirror”, written by Glen Ballard and Siedah Garrett, brought together Jackson’s powerful myth and his strong pop sense, while “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You", a power ballad duet with Garrett, has the kind of brainwashing hook expected from the “King of Pop”. But it’s Jackson’s fantasies, as “Speed Demon”, as “Smooth Criminal”, and the mild sexual exploration of “Dirty Diana” that nicely fill out this ambitious, satisfying follow-up. Strip away the hype and expectation and Bad more than delivers as the work of a multi-talented artist in his prime.

Incredible Work...

I was shocked when I read the album description on iTunes for Bad! None of that is true!! This album is the 2nd best selling album of all time, right under Thriller. No, it's not Thriller, nothing will ever be Thriller, this is Bad. ANOTHER incredible album by Michael Jackson. This album is full of great songs like, Another Part of Me, Bad, Dirty Diana, I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Leave Me Alone, Liberian Girl, Man In the Mirror, Smooth Criminal, and The Way You Make Me Feel. These songs are all excellent, and they were all hits. Dirty Diana has incredible riffs, Smooth Criminal has a very good video with more amazing coreography, as does The Way You Make Me Feel (Plus his Panther Dance), and also, The Way You Make Me Feel and Man In The Mirror were both performed at the grammy's. This album is deffinately NOT a let down. Michael is NOT losing touch, and this material is an add on to his other master pieces. (This is just random, but why does Michael Jackson have two seperate pages on iTunes? Some albums on this page are not on his other page. To the people who run iTunes, why don't you fix it, and put ALL of Michael's albums in one place please. Even all of his younger solo albums like, Got To Be There or Ben.)

Critic should be fired.

Who ever is writing the reviews, should not have written this one, because the songs are great. Only a true fan would thing worthy of all his works and not so few and belittle any of them. All of them are great for what they are, and not to be compared to the others. True, Thriller did better in terms of sales and popularity, but it does not mean, that Bad wasn't as good.

Horrible review on album

I totally agree. Itune's review on this album is ridiculously false. Bad is MJ's second best album (of course behind Thriller). And what they said about Michael Jackson being at his worst when they refer to Man in the Mirror????? That is one of his best songs! I do not understand Itunes at all. Every song on this album is nothing short of amazing

Michael Jackson was unquestionably the biggest pop star of the '80s, and certainly one of the most popular recording artists of all time. In his prime, Jackson was an unstoppable juggernaut, possessed of all the tools to dominate the charts seemingly at will: an instantly identifiable voice, eye-popping dance moves, stunning musical versatility, and loads of sheer star power. His 1982 blockbuster Thriller became the biggest-selling album of all time (probably his best-known accomplishment), and he...
