Album Review

A "return to their original Dark Carnival ways," Bang! Pow! Boom! is the ultimate cult pleaser, an album that goes back to the viciousness of the band's early efforts with the help of longtime producer and greatest asset Mike E. Clark. The title of the album is actually the name of the main character, a demon with a voice that sounds like a screwed and chopped remix. Since their rapping hasn't significantly evolved from their early days, wicked clowns Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope have little trouble capturing that old-school flavor. Increase the sick and the sleazy slightly and they're right back where they started, which is at least good news for the few who aren't "Juggalos" but more casual ICP fans who find their Hell's-circus-meets-hip-hop style amusing. Clark's inventive production is even more persuasive as he loops cowabunga surf guitar for "The Bone" or gives "Imma Kill U" a "Humpty Dance" bassline. While the key track for the faithful will be the destructive title cut, the curious should try "To Catch a Predator," which parodies the MSNBC show right up to host Chris Hansen's famous question "What's in the bag?" ("Funyuns and condoms" is the answer here), or "Juggalo Island," which wistfully dreams of an island reserved for ICP fans. Otherwise, this is a formulaic album from the kings of slaughterhouse rap-rock, but fans will appreciate the extra enthusiasm from the duo, the bounty of filth, and maybe most of all, the reviving of the Dark Carnival mythos. [The Nuclear Edition contains a second disc of bonus and unreleased tracks, as well as a DVD containing two music videos and a documentary.]

Finally

All my life I have been waiting to see someone influential that's willing to ask the tough questions no one else wants to talk about. How do magnets work? This combined with spreading awareness about the pelican's most common natural prey (Clowns and their cell phones) makes miracles the most important song of all time.

Whoop Whoop!

MMFWCL to all my juggalo and juggalette homies(:

to judge this fairly

to judge this fairly you really need to discount 2 songs on this, i won't mention them since some might like this but, seriously this is ICP's best work in a long time. its arguable. could be since bizzare/bizzare or even since melinko. Honestly though i liked both Wraiths so, i'll say since Hell's Pit. They bring what made them great in there own way back, fun funny and different sounds. Sure its not what everyone finds to be the norm, but thats what ICP has built there empire off of. Not going with the flow. My favorites from Bang Pow Boom.
Zombie Slide, To Catch a Predatore, Vera Lee, Vultures.
Most people judge ICP by there appearance and take everything that is said too literally. If you can get by than i don't see why this couldn't be enjoyed by most people with an open mind.

Biography

Formed: 1990 in Detroit, MI

Genre: Hip Hop/Rap

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Insane Clown Posse are a cartoonish metal/rap band with a vaunted live show that features open fires, chain saws, liters of soda dousing the audience (Faygo being the group's favorite brand), and more emphasis on performance art than the performance of music. In the world of the late '90s, that was more than enough to get them a recording contract with a major label, though the release of their 1997 album The Great Milenko came with a bit of controversy. Now just a duo, ICP were originally formed...
