Customer Reviews
A good score from a great composer
Kind of like the movie itself, this score is just "good", nothing to write home about. I really respect Tyler as a composer and there is some worthy music here. I thought the "love theme" if you can call it that, was a little thin. There was a theme, however, about half to 3/4 of the way through that I loved, but I haven't been able to find it on the album. It starts out with a harp and the strings and cellos come in and play a beautiful theme along with a horn accompaniment. Reminds me of some stuff I've recently come across like Josh Kramer's "Beginnings" and Abel Korzeniowski's "A Single Man". Very moving stuff.
Overall, great music.
The movie was good and I do recommend seeing it. Not the best movie I ever saw, but it was good from beginning to end. The pace was good, easy to follow the story, and it was focused. Most of the music from this soundtrack is really smooth and emotionall moving for me. I bought tracks 1, 5, 8, and 15. This movie is not your usual shoot-everthing-and-make-lots-of-noise with superfast cuts. Instead, it was much more realistic than the other action films I've seen in a while. In other words, the movie looks and behaves as you would imagine if this were happening in real life. The romantic part for the main character in the latter half of the film is short-lived, since the main character is just beginning to allow himself to take interested in a girl and begin to work his way out of his assassin life. See the movie to watch how it is unfortunately "interrupted" and ruined. The movie does have a sad ending and comes to a "close". If it were me, I would have killed the last bad guy, escaped unharmed, gone back to get the girl (and explain in detail what happened to clear things up), and take her back to the USA with me and invest my assassin money in investment property so we would not have to work, ever! I hope the DVD has an alternate ending.
club song
For those who wanted to know - the song that plays when Kong goes to the club to pick up the package is "This One" by Bubble Toy.
