Why an EP?

Don't get me wrong, Wagon Wheel Blues is a great album, but how did these EP songs not find their way on to the LP? It really could have used them. Wagon Wheel Blues, while filled with nine great songs, feels kind of lacking - short and under produced. Songs fade in and out before we can really get comfortable with them. The non-album songs on the Barrel of Batteries EP (sans "Toxic City #26", which is honestly a throw-away track) could have fleshed the album out nicely, since they're mostly instrumental anyway. If anything, the stellar song like "Pushing Corn" should have been placed on the album proper, not here. But atleast it's available, and this band is pretty awesome, so things could be worse, right? All-in-all, if you're a fan of The War on Drugs, purchase "Pushing Corn" - you'll be glad you did.
