Not Really Complete

This boxed set was to clean up Barry's catalog, to once and for all contain the absolute best of Barry but instead of again re-remastering the hits and once again assembling them here Barry served up alternate takes, demos, and live versions of the bulk of his hits. As fans we should already have all of the staples so why the re-hash? Well, this set while containing a smattering of hits in their original versions the real collectibles are the unreleased songs and new recordings. "Another Life" found on disc four is classic Barry and was a moderate hit. "Brandy" evolves into the smash "Mandy," "Could It Be Magic" was a pop radio single upbeat and full of cow bells, "If I Should Love Again" sounds to me more rehearsed and a bit more polished than the released version, The unreleased alt take of "Tryin' To Get The Feeling Again" is closer to the original lyric, the unreleased duet with Melissa Manchester is a real treasure. Comprehensive but not manic, this set is a must for fans, very well mastered.

Nice job, reviewers.

Uh, to the people who said that it's not the full "Complete Collection", iTunes knows that. Note that under the title, it says "PARTIAL ALBUM". And it's even in all caps like that so you notice. Good job being observant.

That success hasn't necessarily translated to respect (or even ironic hipster appreciation) in most quarters; instead, Manilow's music has been much maligned by critics and listeners alike, particularly the romantic ballads that defined his career, which were derided as maudlin schlock even during his heyday. It's true that Manilow's taste for swelling choruses and lush arrangements...
