Customer Reviews

great snapshot

Anyone who remembers Duran after all the hype died away, this was their heyday. This was a great concert and a great time to be a Durannie. Wonderful memories.

Fantastic quality from a different era of Duran Duran

In an interesting turn of creativity, Duran Duran really began to explore a new sound and experiment with music for their Big Thing album. This concert is from the supporting tour of this album and is a wonderful addition to any Duran fan's collection. Excellent quality! And although I gave this recording a five star rating, I must complain about iTunes making Palomino 'album only.' Not cool at all if someone wants only that song.

Duran Duran Live Live

If you never experienced DD live at any point over the last 25+ years you really missed out on one of the best live bands to grace a stage.

This was an interesting time for the band on their way to poorer sales and attention. Big Thing (which only went gold in the USA) was written and recorded during the Strange Behaviour world tour. The band immediately hit the road to support this experimental album once again with Warren Cuccurullo on guitar this time joined by Sterling Campbell on drums. Both Sterling and Warren were announced as official members and the (renewed) 5-piece convened in Paris for the very under appreciated Liberty album.

This tour sonically was fun although the backing vocalists, Melanie and Jackie, clearly were brought along for physical attributes than their vocal skill. The fashion and appearance of the boys left much to be desired though.

Missing on this disc is the great All She Wants Is - Planet Earth mashup that was done on tour.

Overall, a great trip down 1988-89 memory lane.

Duran Duran personified new wave for much of the mainstream audience. And for good reason, too. Duran Duran's reputation was built through music videos, which accentuated their fashion-model looks and glamorous sense of style. Without music videos, it's likely that their pop-funk — described by the group as the Sex Pistols meets Chic — would never have made them international pop stars. While Duran Duran did have sharper pop sensibilities than their new romantic contemporaries like Spandau...
