Fightstar: The Best Way to Blow a Pair of Speakers

Having been a Fightstar fan for almost 4 years, I was drooling at the prospect of their new album, especially after the release of the first 2 singles. All Fightstar material is gold but this new album made past records look like the products of toddlers thumping on Casio keyboards. That is saying quite a bit. The orchestration on all of the songs is supremely magisterial and beautifully compliments the Fightstar sound we have come to know and love. Only once before have I encountered an album which I loved in its entirety, from track to track, and this latest Fightstar effort has surpassed that. I am staggered by their lack of exposure in my native America and we are definitely the poorer for it. Of all the songs, The English Way and War Machine are my two favorites. And Give Me the Sky. Mercury Summer as well. Or maybe Chemical Blood... BUY IT AND ALL FIGHTSTAR EVER!

Fightstar they put alot of thought in their song writting. Their music has meaning every single song has something especial from beginning to end " Follow Me Into the Darkness" Amazing song and Be Human is an instant classic. This one and the other two albums 5 stars.

The next step in evolution for a masterful band.

I write this review a few months after my purchase of this album. I truly enjoy Fightstar and everyone of their releases, they are the only band that no questions asked I will buy any album and it's subsequent singals. 'Be Human' is a collection of songs from a group of people who truly enjoy what they do and the music they are making. Fightstar has always shown emotion with everything they have done and this album is no different. Some might say that this is a more commercially aimed release and I cannot deny that, though I don't think that it detracts anything from the band or the music. Fightstar just prove that they can keep the hard hitting chords and melodies and expressive lyrics, while at the same time appealing to a broader market. I reccomend this album every chance that I get and to make this a semi-actual review I will say that the flow from track to track is stellar and the ballance of melodical singing and hard hitting, emotionally charged screams on a few of the heavier tracks is great. The use of orchestral instrumentation is top notch as well as the subtlty in the uses of a choir. lastly I say BUY THIS ALBUM!

London-based post-hardcore outfit Fightstar came to life in the mid-2000s when guitarist/vocalist Charlie Simpson was actually still a member of the U.K. pop trio Busted. Itching to tap more fully into his rock side, a random jam at a party soon turned into Simpson writing and playing songs on the side with guitarist Al Westaway and drummer Omar Abdid.
