this is a really good album and you should buy it, but you could get away with buying beast of burden, or miss you, or some girls, or just my imagination

My favorite Stones release....

by C. Marshall

My favorite Stones album (yea, I called it an album) ever! Maybe because I was 16 when this came out? I don't know, but it's always been one of my "Desert Island" choices. I love every single song on here. I can't believe that there are no other reviews for this one?!?! Takes me back to cruisin' around in my car with this blasting out of the house speakers I put in the back seat.

This album is a classic, and probably the only Stones album after Exile that is worthy of comparison to the great late 60's - early 70's run of Stones albums. It's not as musical as those albums, but the album is loaded with great tunes - "Miss You", "Beast of Burden", "Shattered", "When the Whip Comes Down", "Respectable", "Before They Make Me Run". Also "Far Away Eyes" is a vital Stones song. Some Girls is part of its era - which was not the same musical environment as the early 70's obsession with hard rock soloing and blues rock (also no Mick Taylor of course). But Some Girls is every bit the time capsule that Sticky Fingers and Let It Bleed are. Five stars for being one of the best albums from one of the best bands.

As the self-consciously dangerous alternative to the bouncy Merseybeat of the Beatles in the British Invasion, the Stones had...
