iTunes Review
On his second ace full-length, Because of You, Ne-Yo continues his mission to please. Positioning himself as the nice guy of current R&B — praising an ex-girlfriend’s new baby in “Do You,” letting Jennifer Hudson run away with their duet, “Leaving Tonight” — the singer-writer includes just enough sly come-ons to maintain (lots of) interest. “Addicted” demurely shoots down rumors of Ne-Yo’s sexual obsessiveness even as it promises to hook the object of his affections. Conversely, the title track paints him as helplessly in thrall to the girl. But he momentarily breaks out of his mold, getting his Prince-style brag on in “Sex With My Ex,” which suggests that his true love is the game itself. Because is state-of-the-art good, offering plenty of hooks, creamy tracks and more of the overdubbed Ne-Yos that make his vocal work a luscious treat in itself.

The Prince Of R&B
If given more time to develop, Ne-Yo could become an R&B legend. Although this album is not as goood as his first, it is still a great album. Here is my Track-By-Track Review: Because Of You- the album's first single. A great overall song. 5/5 Stars. Crazy- a good collabo with Jay-Z. Although the beat is a little repetitive, this is a pretty good song. 4/5 Stars. Can We Chill- the beginning kind of sounds like church music, and mixed withe Ne-Yo's melodic voice, it creates a great intro. 5/5 Stars. Do You- this song should have been last on the album. It is a little boring, and Ne-Yo needed to bring more enthusiasm. 2/5 Stars. Addicted- a Ne-Yo classic. A very melodic, calming song. 5/5 Stars. Leaving Tonight- a great collabo with Jennifer Hudson. She really has a promising future. 5/5 Stars. Ain't Thinking About You- an extremely repetitive beat. A lackluster song. 2/5 Stars. Sex With My Ex- An average song. This song seems a little familiar though. 3/5 Stars. Angel- another great song. Definitely single worthy. 5/5 Stars. Make It Work- a very catchy song. Th constant "Ay, oh, Ay, oh" in the chorus really makes the song. 4/5 Stars. Say It- a very melodic, sensual song. Reminds me of "Mirror" from his first album. 5/5 Stars. Go On Girl- will definitely be a single. Great overall song. 5/5 Stars. Top 5 Songs: 1)Because Of You 2)Go On Girl 3)Addicted 4)Say It 5)Angel Final Thoughts: This overall, is a great album. Although I prefer Ne-Yo's first album, this album will probably match it single-wise. Give Ne-Yo some more time to develop, and we could have an R&B legend.
Quality over Quantity, how this album SHOULD have been
NeYo is a great artist, he has great potential, but he really should have taken more time to develop a quality album. This album was rushed, it is evident, many of the songs sound bland. "So Sick" had a great melody, was real innovative and creative, but this album just sounds like he is talkin with a few emphasis on words and then he called it a song. "Because of you" was the best song on the album. I have to say that I am a little disappointed because I was anticipating the album so much. What a let down. This isn't a criticism on NeYo as an artist, he can write great music, but he just rushed this album. But I'm sure teen girls will buy the album anyways and like it because it's from Ne-Yo.
Because Of You + Ne-Yo = Sophomore Album SUCCESS!
I think all us Ne-Yo fans can say that they really enjoyed his Debut album. I was a little scared for him going to his sophomore album , because you always wonder if new artist can follow up. Ne-yo sure did with this one. He's already proved to be a great producer & writer, doing things for many artist, and himself. So I can surly say that Ne-yo is here to say. Loving this album from great hit single "Because Of You". To the hott ballads such as Do You, and Leaving Tonight. There's also some risky stuff in here, where Ne-yo turns up his sexual side a notch with Addicted, and Sex With My Ex. Be sure to buy this album! KEY TRACKS: Because Of You, Crazy, Do You, Addicted, Leaving Tonight.
