Great performance
I've heard Lang Lang for years, and he has never sounded better. There's passion and excitement in these works - something that I haven't heard in them in a long time. This is a stunning performance and an amazing record - you won't be disappointed.
Great recording
Great recording. Other reviews assume that there is some "perfect" way to play each piece, which is false. Music is an art form, and is subject to individual interpretation. These are fantastic recordings and faithful renditions played with good substantive and emotional construction. Great album at a fantastic price.
A well rounded performance
In this recording, the soloist has proved that he is becoming a matured artist. Gone are the erstwhile showmanship bravados. The velvet touch is set against thunderous outburst. The tempo is a little bit lax in the third movement of the fourth concerto, but that brings a welcome contract between the musing, lyrical parts and the rondo theme. Orchestra de Paris’s accompaniment followed closely with verve and dynamic under the baton of Enschenbach. Above all, the performance is well balanced and recorded. This is definitely a Beethoven to have in your library.
