Most Important Moment in Music
Beethoven's Ninth Symphony is really the most important moment in music and quite possibly in all art. The London Symphony Orchestra performs this incredible piece of music wonderfully on this recording. At about fourteen minutes into the last movement the whole choir comes in very powerfully with the famous "ode to joy" and it is the triumphant, brilliant, and beautiful conclusion not only to this symphony but to all of Beethoven's works and even his life. It gives you an incredible feeling of hope and makes you think of everything differently. This symphony has changed many people's lives including my own and I hope that you will purchase this recording. It may take a few listens, but give it a chance. You will definitely not regret it.
Certifiably sin-cere
Excellent work Maestro Morris! Beautifully precise handling of all three movements and particularly of the Allegro troppo in the 3rd movement. A strident handling of the cantabile reminiscent of the 1960's Klemperer interpretation which might seem a few beats faster than those more used to Karajan's methodical style but excellent nonetheless. 21:40 - 22:20 and at 23:43 into the 3rd noticed the contralto to be a demisemi off of the barritone so... I dinged you a star . Congratulations to you and the London Symphony Orcestra
Good Version of a Classic Work
Good version of Beethoven's 9th. I really wanted the Philadelphia Orchestra version with Riccardo Muti, but having to buy the entire collection for $59 is a little too steep for me. I'll have to settle for the London Symphony instead.
