A look back in time...

This is a look at what could have been Shania Twain. This album was recorded pre-Shania, when she was still Eileen Twain, but never originally released. From what I've learned, it was meant as a demo, and recorded at an independent studio with a local producer, and was one of her earlier attempts at stardom. Most people don't remember Shania was once a showgirl in Canada before she made it big in the States singing country, where she found her niche. It's almost laughable when compared to her current music, but a part of her history none the less. This is also an abridged version, I have the CD that was released several years earlier which has a few more tracks.

There IS an audience for this, folks

I don't like seeing an album unfairly dissed, especially when those dissing it don't appear to have the proper knowledge of what they're reviewing. I know the info says that this is a 2005 country release, but it is really a 1990 rock release. This style of music was quite popular back in 1990, and country music had not yet begun to experience the popularity that it would in a couple of years. This album was produced by Paul Sabu, who is unknown by many but is legendary in the AOR world. So if you are at all familiar with any of his work, you can get a good idea of what this album is like. It is pretty decent for the AOR genre - not great, not really as good as Paul's other work from that time period, but overall fairly good. For pure country fans - those who cringe when they hear 80s hard rock - you probably won't like this album. Honestly, much of it isn't any harder than several of her country tunes, but it is a different sound. If you're an AOR fan, you may like some many of these. My faves are "Wild & Wicked" and "Rhythm Made Me Do It". I am a fan of her country work too, and I do like most of it somewhat better than this album. But don't diss this just because you don't like the style, and remember that it is - all together now - a 1990 rock album.

What the heck?

I haven't bought any of these songs....I never klnew this CD came out and just by listening to 30 seconds of the songs, it sounds like 80's pop and I don't like it...I miss her country pop which I love so much! What happened to her? What possessed her when she was making this CD? I love her old stuff.
