Album Review
Michael Hewett doesn't have the flamboyance of the late Michael Hedges, but he mines somewhat similar territory in his compositions and some of his guitar playing on Being in Dreaming. He creates gorgeous moods, as on "Capricorn," then develops them — in that case building to an excellent climax with some tense electric guitar playing. Much of the disc offers a more subdued and tranquil atmosphere, however, especially the prolonged end to the title track, with its lulling wave of sound. He's especially effective when his guitar works against David Sharpe's cello, and they create some lovely melodies. Overall, it's music for meditation, with plenty of depth and substance to engage the mind and spirit with movement, especially on "Transmission," which moves beyond the general acoustic tone of the album to offer more complex ideas. Hewett has made a beautiful record.

Being in Dreaming
I don't normally write comments, as I feel most things speak for themselves without needing something colourfully said or form around it. This artist "Michael Hewett" plays likes a gentle cool breeze moving across a pond in the early hours of the morning. I think the artist Jean-Jacques Rousseau says it's best, " The world of reality has its limits; the world of imagination is boundless." That's how I feel about Hewett's music. Simply beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with the world Michael.
Wonderful album!
Michael Hewett plays hypnotic melodies in this very relaxing collection of songs. Crisis & Observation is truly a wonderful piece.
