Belinda Carlisle is One Hip Chick

As the other reviews have noted, some of Belinda Carlisle's best work is from the albums "Live Your Life Be Free" and "Real" -- neither were particularly successful here in America, while both tore up the charts in Europe, the UK and Austrailia. Having said that, "Her Greatest Hits" is a broad compilation of Belinda's US hits and successes. "Do You Feel Like I Feel?" is a personal favorite and along with "Half the World" and the title track are taken from 1991's 'Live Your Life Be Free'. The album in its entirety isn't yet available on iTunes, so this is a great opportunity to sample some of her best work (Do You Feel Like I Feel? was a modest hit in late 1991 on Top 40 radio and has a completely awesome video inspired by the 50's monster flick, "Attack of the 50ft. Woman" -- check it out on youtube.com, you won't be sorry!) Belinda's first solo album came after the Go-Go's broke up in 1986 and feautures her first two hits "Mad About You" and "I Feel the Magic". "Gotta Get To You" is also offered from the debut album, "Belinda" (which is also not on iTunes). The Grammy nominated "Heaven on Earth" offers the big hits including "Circle in the Sand" and "I Get Weak" along with "Heaven is a Place on Earth". It also includes Belinda's cover of Cream's "I Feel Free" which I find annoying. With such a wealth of original material (hello "I Plead Insanity" and "We Want the Same Thing"), why this is included, I have no idea. "Runaway Horses" offers the Top 20 hits "Leave A Light", which offers a cool guitar solo from Beatle George Harrison, and the haunting "Summer Rain" along with fan favorite "Vision of You". It's a pretty solid greatest hits package and especially cool b/c 'Belinda' and 'Live Your Life Be Free' aren't available on iTunes. Personally, I think Belinda is the cat's pajamas. What a great lady.

She got the beat

This compilation has all the essential Belinda. From the fun "Mad About You" to some of her later material from "Live Your Life Be Free." A great intro to Belinda, or a fun stroll down memory lane. I just wish "Emotional Highway" had been included on the disc. She also put out some more mature, inspired pop later on the never hit it big that's worth checking out too, like her under appreciated album Real.

she's the female Sting!

This is awesome. Totally awesome. She's razor sharp and on the cutting edge. Real wild stuff. CRAZY TIMES! Half the world is the ringer on my cellphone #4. Vison of You gets me misty eyed and then I get eye yeast growths. Half the world reminds me of hemispheres. I feel the magic is great to listen to when you get dressed to go see a parade or cat show. I get weak is a real journey for the ears and soul, it makes my hair stand up on my skin when she holds those long long notes. Belinda not only has a beautiful name and a beautiful hairstyle, she has a beautiful voice because she uses it to sing to listeners.

Belinda Carlisle pursued a solo career after leaving the Go-Go's in 1984. As her solo career progressed, Carlisle removed any of the rough edges remaining in her style, transforming from a new wave rocker to a polished adult contemporary pop singer. The change was evident on her first album, 1986's Belinda. Featuring the number three hit single "Mad About You," the record went gold and established her as a viable hitmaker. The following year, Carlisle released Heaven on Earth, her greatest solo success....
