A New Christmas Classic
With a "pub sing-along" chorus and icy guitar lines reminiscent of The Pretenders' "2000 Miles," Bells of St. Ignatius echoes The Pogues' "Fairytale of New York" and Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas." Essential to any holiday playlist.
A gritty infectious Christmas tune
I'm a big fan of healthy dose of "grit" in music be it lyrically or instrumentally. Tough to pull off in a holiday song, but these guys did it. Infectious melody and a wonderful snapshot of Christmas season from the perspective of a Manhattan-ite. Has almost a Lou Reed quality to the lyrics
