Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra

Excellent work by Bernstein. Many years ago, this album inspired me and helped me to better appreciate classical music. Hearing the work today brings back fond memories as a youngster listening to the album late into the night. Was very pleased to see it offered by iTunes. Buy the album, pour a glass of fine wine, turn the lights down and take an epic journey into classical music.

Great guide for children understanding of music

The value of this older recording is Bernstein's interesting and educational narration as he explains clearly what Saint-Saens was doing in each section. However, there is a great deal of talk between music sections, diminishing the section-to-section flow of the whole work.

Can't Go Wrong with Bernstein...

From one of the greatest conductors in history Bernstein takes the NYP in an awesome direction to teach young people about the beauty of music and inspire.
