ITunes has a history of offering re-records via lables like K-Tel or this one (which I've never heard of) for it's "oldies" collection. Somehow, TimeLife manages to find the original hits...Go figure. While these are the original artists, the versions were likely sung decades later. The whole point of oldies or "memories" is to hear the same thing that played on the radio when it became popular. Re-records are no better than having an alternative artist sing -- they both stink. Save your money.

I'm not sure why it is SO HARD to get the original recording of Freda Payne singing 'Band of Gold', but apparently it is beyond iTunes to figure out how to get it into their catalog. So, instead, they give us a "Best of the 70s" version that is a remake, but labled as Freda's original version. Isn't that FALSE ADVERTISING?? Hello, legal experts, care to weigh in on this? Yes, I only threw .99 plus tax down the toilet, but it's the precedent being set here. Why are these lame rehashes allowed to be sold under the original artist's names? 30 years ago, K-tel was forced to stop this type of false advertising because it was misleading the public. These songs are not by the original artists, and it is an incredible insult to think we would just buy these wanna-be's and not know the difference. When will this type of lying to the public be stopped??

The songs/singers don't sound the same. Sounds like they're all remakes and not the orig's. Awful.
