Album Review

Contrary to what its title would make one believe, this record is not a collection of previously available recordings by Mississippi John Hurt — rather, it is a complete concert from Oberlin College on April 15, 1965. Regardless, the title is justified, as the concert features Hurt in excellent form doing most of his best known classic songs from the 1920s as well as newer compositions.

A treasure

I've had this album on vinyl for many years. It is a wonderful example of this pickin' style and his great voice. I also like his Friends of Old time Music, It Hurts in the Delta, Avalon Blues and Got a Feeling called the blues.

A Great Live Album.

This is a great live album in a very intimate setting. His brief conversations with the audience between each song really make this album a great one. The songs are an even bigger treasure to this album. The chicken song, Monday morning blues, all of them are great.
This album has been a huge influence on my music since I was very young.
