Album Review

The Best of N.E.R.D. covers the time the group spent on Virgin, which amounted to two albums: In Search Of and Fly or Die. Consequently, the 14-track set contains eight tracks off the debut (the re-recorded, live-band version issued in the U.S. in 2002) and four off the follow-up, as well as a pair of remixes and an equal number of B-sides (including the phenomenal “Lil’ Suzy,” also issued on Kelis’ Wanderland as “Little Suzie”).

Customer Reviews

For the record... morons.

If you pay attention... this is released by Virgin Records, the same label that released the 2 albums that comprise this very weak, unofficial "greatest hits" collection. Virgin Records completely screwed the whole N.E.R.D project in general., which is why NERD jumped ship to begin with. So this is just Virgin's last big blunder in a long line of clumsiness that, unfortunately, befell a wonderful little band.

Not worth a penny

More fluff before their next album which means that it's going to be junk too...which they only have 3 albums together....that only went gold, how can they put out a best of?

I Get It!(Music W/ a Message)

Hell yeh, this is necessary. One: these songs as well as few others not on the album should be remastered(which most 'best of' albums today are). If you really know about the Neptunes, you'll know that they often don't put out a lot of time into mastering as some other artists do.

Two: their music is legendary, rare, universal, truthful, yet astronomical. It deserves to be rediscovered and released and creatively re-digested. If you're of truth and aware of yourself as a soul, it'll likely become therapeutic for you to take their music in.

Three: The music is good. Use this an opportunity to dig why they were as popular as they were.

Years Active: '00s, '10s

The acronym N.E.R.D. stands for "No One Ever Really Dies," but childhood friends Chad Hugo, Pharrell Williams, and Shay most certainly used the group to proudly emphasize the nerdier aspects of their musical personalities. Before this side project took shape, Hugo and Williams — as the Neptunes — had established themselves as giants in the field of pop production, whether they were working with hardcore rappers, smooth crooners, or teen pop groups. Although...
