UK's Best of Filler Music
Unlike the title of this album this is not the best of Urban Knights. Track 5 is about the only halfway decent cut on this album the rest is just filler. As you can see from the number of reviews a lot of people are not even giving this album the time of day. Do yourself a favor and buy any other album from UK other than this and You can't go wrong!
It's not as bad as it seems
I don't know why this is considered to be pop. This group or album is in the wrong genre, so that's why I think many people don't like it. Modern pop nowadays is completely different than what the Urban Knights play. This album or group should be in the genre of jazz in which they are also considered to be in the sub-genre of jazz called smooth jazz or fusion jazz. I think this album has also been re-released since I've been listening to this group or album in the nineties. Yes, I agree the album isn't that great to me, but there may be other jazz or smooth jazz listeners that may enjoy the album more than me. Yes smooth jazz has some elements of pop, but there is a difference between modern pop and pop in the 70's to the 90's. I also heard this group is lead or influence by its main leader Ramsey Lewis, so as an admirer and fellow piano player I give him nods on sweet home chicago. I can also see why #5 sounds decent because it's very smooth and has a latin or roma feel to it led by the guitar. Other than that I would download a couple or a few tracks if I wanted to listen to this casually. LIkewise, I am not a huge fan or follower of Urban Knights or smooth jazz. Yet, I am familiar with this group.
