Album Review
To some, boiling Parliament's legacy down to a single-disc collection is the equivalent of heresy, since most fans treat each album as an individual work of art. Still, there is no denying that Parliament was an untouchable singles act, recording some of the greatest soul/funk singles of the '70s. For those listeners that just want an introduction, or only need the hits, The Best of Parliament: Give Up the Funk is the ideal choice. A more complete and logical collection than the previous Greatest Hits (The Bomb), The Best of Parliament supplies all of the great group's greatest hits, from "Up for the Down Stroke" and "Tear the Roof off the Sucker" to "Flash Light" and "Aqua Boogie." For those that can only handle the funk in moderation, there is no better collection.
Customer Reviews
It's just pure fun
I went through my teenage years on Parliment Fuckadelic. I was just a fun music to dance and pick up girls to. Not like today, back then if you wanted to use foul or explicit sexual language, you had to supply that yourself. Back then you didn't even party with people like that. Like I said it's just pure fun dance and party music. After all George Clinton let everybody on the mother ship. You'll enjoy this music like your favorite comic book. You don't take it seriously, but your imagination has fun...enjoy.

flashlight , up for the downstroke and chocolate city are anthems. ride on is the "it don't mean a thing if it aint got that swing" of funk. plain stinky!
essential funk
This was the first Parliement album I bought back in 1996. I loved every second of it then and love every second of it now. This music just makes you wanna move. There are no good or bad songs, it's just funk.
