iTunes Review

This 16-track collection assembles key tracks from the first eight studio Kiss albums (1973-1980) and adds a bonus live version of “Shout It Out Loud” from their original line-up’s 1996 reunion tour. While Kiss made their name as one of the world’s premier live rock n’ roll shows, their ability to write quick, catchy pop should never be overlooked. The band’s best-known material — “Rock ‘n’ Roll All Nite,” “Detroit Rock City” (in an edited version), their surprise hit ballad “Beth,” the 1979 disco-fied hit “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” — is represented alongside fan favorites such as Gene Simmons’ “Calling Dr. Love” and “Christine Sixteen” and Paul Stanley’s “Hard Luck Woman” and “Do You Love Me,” and their earliest crowdpleasers (“Deuce,” “Strutter,” and “Cold Gin”). For added intrigue, Simmons’ tribute to unorthodox groupies (“Plaster Caster”), Stanley’s multi-leveled power-ballad/ rocker “Sure Know Something” and Ace Frehley’s “Two Sides of a Coin” from 1980’s much overlooked Unmasked album are included as well.

Best KISS compilation out there!

by Rock 'n Metal

I must say, out of all the compilations released by KISS, this has to be the best one. In my opinion, it's the best compilation album I've ever seen! It perfectly compiles 16 of KISS' greatest songs (with the exception of the live recording of 'Shout it out Loud') altogether to make the perfect example of a 'Greatest Hits' album. I find this album so great because the order of the selected songs for the album are so well-put together that you'd swear it was one of KISS' studio albums and not a compilation. If anyone out there is new to KISS and wants to get a feel of their material before buying an actual album, I recommend that you buy 'Greatest KISS' if you want the perfect taste of one of the greatest hard rock bands in history!

Biography

Formed: 1973 in New York, NY

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s

Rooted in the campy theatrics of Alice Cooper and the sleazy hard rock of glam rockers the New York Dolls, Kiss became a favorite of American teenagers in the '70s. Most kids were infatuated with the look of Kiss, not their music. Decked out in outrageously flamboyant costumes and makeup, the band fashioned...
