they'll give you their sunshine
This insightful album plows through every emotion one could experience in 10 amazing songs. The lyrics are beautifully bitter and intelligent, something you'll be quoting and using for your life mantras. This album is great to listen to when you are happy or depressed, and brings something new to the table every time. Genius Scott Klopfenstein takes his ska influences and hurls them into a phenomenal first stab with the Littlest Man Band and creates a whole new sound. You will never grow tired of Better Book Ends.
Soul Unmatched
Many of you are probably looking at this album because you already know little Scotty Klopfenstein as the backup vocalist/guitarist/trumpeter in the third-wave ska band Reel Big Fish. Likewise, if you're like me, you're probably looking for more song featuring his beautiful tenor voice. Well, my friends, look no further, as you have come to the right place gazing at the spectacle that is the Littlest Man Band. Lead by frontman Scott Klopfenstein belting out soulful sounds not heard since the greats of the jazz era, LMB bursts out with fantastic melodies with eloquent lyrics that make you want to listen and re-listen. It's obvious that Scott wanted to experiment with a new sound other than RBF, and here he has succeeded. LMB features a sound in a completely different realm, but comes out ahead. However, Scott has not completely abandoned his ska roots, as the horns are prominently featured in songs such as "Always Sayin'" and "Stayed Away Too Long." Many of you RBF fans will recognize the stylings of Dan Regan busting out fantastic solos in many of these songs. With an all around great sound in soul, jazz, and rock, the Littlest Man Band delivers...and then some. Do not pass up the chance to hear Scott's voice go full out (and I mean that) in this album. Recommended tracks: Always Sayin' Stayed Away Too Long Happened Again Those are the top three for me but seriously...get them all. It's worth it.
Flawless
It's sad to think that this album goes overlooked by so many people. It's the secret wonder of the music world. Scott Klopfenstein takes us on a cynical journey through the ten tales of The Littlest Man Band. The entire album seems to build each track off of the last telling a story. The message seems to get less bitter as the songs play on ending in a climax of pleasing melodys with Better Man and It's You. Scott writes from the heart and plays from the soul. I recommed this album to anyone who just needs to sit down, relax and think. It's a moving, powerful soundtrack to life, that I believe, too many of us are familiar with.
