A comeback album that by all rights shouldn't be this good, Better Days reunites Southside Johnny with his old cohorts Springsteen and Van Zandt and some special guests (Jon Bon Jovi, Flo and Eddie) for 11 bittersweet originals capped by the gorgeous soul ballad "It's Been a Long Time."

Underappreciated Gem
This is an album you never hear anything about, but it is one of the most played discs in my collection. The songs are well-written and tightly produced. And the song It's Been a Long Time is extremely underrated as you have Bruce Springstein and Stevie Van Zandt sharing vocals with Southside Johnny. Not sure there is a weak song on the entire thing. One of the most eminently listenable albums I own.
One of my favorite albums of all time!
I just realized that no one has written a review of this album. From start to finish this is one of the best in my collection. The timeless songwriting is exemplary, striving, edgy, honest and inspiring. Find a better rhythm section in rock and roll. There are some essentials here but I cannot advise anyone to pick one or two. The whole album is worth every penny (or every song worth a dollar). The Jukes are still touring too and playing some of these songs.
Southside Johnny - from the heart
This is a great record from a suberb writer and singer. Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes are tight on these recordings and demonstrate a musical maturity earned from years of playing together. Little Steven and Bruce add to the mix on a couple of tracks to make this a memorable - and highly recommended set of songs. You won't be disappointed.
