Album Review
If Comin' to Your City didn't provide the shock and awe of Horse of a Different Color, at least on chart terms, it did reveal that Big & Rich weren't a one-trick pony, destined to disappear after one huge record. But then, they were hardly one-hit wonders — they were the leaders of the Muzik Mafia, a gleeful group of tacky hucksters and savvy craftsman who remade Nashville in their own image, starting with their own music but extending far, far down, from Gretchen Wilson and Cowboy Troy to reviving John Anderson and Rich co-writing like a madman. It was the kind of mad productivity not dissimilar to modern-day hip-hop producers — they were branding left and right, bringing in everybody under their umbrella — but it sure brought up charges of spreading themselves thin, especially in the wake of the underperformance of Comin' to Your City. But even if that album didn't generate an anthem like "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" and even if it had a few moments where the calculation shone through their crassness, it still had a musical punch. And for its successor, Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace, Big & Rich came up with a good gimmick: divide it into a fast side and a slow side, as if people still listened to music on LPs or cassettes. Great concept.
Customer Reviews
GREAT!
Big & Rich suprise their listeners with mostly ballads, but "You Shook Me All Night Long", "Loud", and "Radio" are their normal fast paced, wonderful songs!
Please Man, Buy This Album!
Big Kenny and John Rich once again combine their voices beautifully! Yes, this album does have more slow songs then their previous albums but that is no reason to pass this up!Lost In This Moment is a sweet country love song about marriage. Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace defines Big & Rich perfectly! It talks about how no matter what they do, God will always forgive, and no, this isn't a Christian album but fans have to accept that Big Kenny and John Rich were raised Christian. Faster Than Angels fly is a sweet sad song about two lovers. Eternity has an amazing intro by John Legend. It is a great song that ,akes you sing along with Big Kenny. When the Devil Gets the Best of Me isn't one of my favorite songs but it's not horrible. It's all about addiction be it girls, pills, or drinking. Radio is fun song that makes for a great show opener. You Never Stop Loving Somebody is another song I'm not too crazy about. High Five is quite possibly my favorite song on the album. It talks about how great you feel when you're in love. Please Man is a song some can find humor in. Wyclef Jean adds his rap into the song much like Cowboy Troy did in Rollin', though, in my opinion, not as well. You Shook Me All Night Long is a cover of an AC/DC song. It's been made country though so fans of the original might have to listen to it for longer to get used to it. I know I did. Loud is a lot like Radio, a fun song with really no point. Overall, the album is pretty good! Okay so someone pointed out that the actual CD in stores has more songs on it. The ones that are missing are only intros to Eternity and Radio. Now I did not buy the album on iTunes, I bought the actual CD but I believe that, from the time listed on iTunes that the intros are included with the songs.
WOW
big and rich have put together a winner here...one of very few cd's i can sit and listen to every song on
