Information about the "Between Two Worlds" album

This album features music inspired by some of the people and events described in Roxana Saberi’s book, Between Two Worlds: My Life and Captivity in Iran. The book chronicles Saberi’s imprisonment in a Tehran jail in 2009 and tells the stories of her fellow prisoners, many of whom were detained for their pursuit of human rights, including freedom of speech, association, and religion. The book and this album are dedicated to Saberi’s cellmates and all other brave souls standing up for human rights, freedom, and dignity. At least 20 percent of the proceeds from this album will be used to promote human rights in Iran. 1. TO THE SUN (3:51) Composed and performed by Roxana Saberi Recorded and edited by Russ Peterson at the recording studio of Concordia College, Moorhead, MN Mixed by Ash Koosha 2. MARA BEBOOS (Kiss Me) (6:48) Referred to in Chapter 10 Lyrics: Kiss me, kiss me for the last time. May God save you, for I am going toward my fate. My spring has passed, and all that has passed is past. I am now in pursuit of my fate. In the midst of the storm with my comrades in the sea, Having risked my life, I must pass through many storms. I have promised my friends to inflame torches In the middle of the nights on the top of the mountains. I am traveling at night in the heart of darkness. Look at me, my darling, don't shed tears for me. I am your guest, my beautiful girl, and will stay with you tonight, That you may put your lips on mine. With the radiance of your look through your innocent tears, Brighten, O lovely girl, this one night of mine. Kiss me, kiss me for the last time. May God save you, for I am going toward my fate. My spring has passed, and all that has passed is past. I am now in pursuit of my fate. I would die for my beloved's presence. I haven't seen him for a year. I would die for the eyes that have seen my beloved. Rivers don't flow with water. Rivers don't bring any news from you. Could it be that you have had a change of heart? Is that why the rivers don't bring your love? I am standing and can't come to you. I am filled with emotion, but I can't cry. I haven't seen you for a year. I would die for the eyes that have seen my beloved. Dedicated to Silva Harotonian, Saberi’s Iranian-Armenian cellmate, a humanitarian worker who was wrongfully convicted of attempting a “soft revolution” against Iran’s regime. wow

This album is so beautiful and has such a great story behind it. Roxana Saberi's piano compositions are amazing and the more Middle Eastern influenced songs are inspiring.

Wonderful

This was a short and beautiful album. I remember Roxana's writings in her book how she would tap out with her fingers compostions like she was playing the piano in her cell. I didn't realize she was a talented pianist as well. This album does bring inspiration for what she went through in Evin Prison, but it just shows her strength as a person as well. The Middle Eastern songs that she includes are aspiring and beautiful. Middle Eastern music is very beautiuful and captivating. Putamayo Records are wonderful sources to begin with. Even if you don't know the lyrics, the key is listening with your heart.
