An ever-evolving reggae collective based in New York City, Easy Star All-Stars are probably best known for their debut album, 2003's Pink Floyd tribute/cover Dub Side of the Moon. A track-by-track re-imagining that showcased their instrumental chops and dubbed-out studio wizardry, it was extremely popular (and led to the follow-up remix album Dubber Side of the Moon seven years later). While they've also released two records of original material (Until That Day and First Light), Easy Star All-Stars are better known for their big-name revamps, which also include Radiodread and Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band. This EP is meant to give listeners a taste of their forthcoming MJ collection, Thrillah. It includes four versions of "Billie Jean," showcasing the legendary Luciano, as well as alternate mixes from Mister Vibes and Sounduo, plus a rootsy take on "Human Nature" as performed by Cas Haley. If you're even a casual fan of dub and/or classic Michael, you need this in your collection ASAP.
