Faithful to the original
The music of the original was a classic, and Simon Viklund has done the impossible - make it better. The whole album of the tracks from the new Bionic Commando Rearmed is a welcome addition to the rather small selection of video game music on iTunes. The techno style goes well with the original chiptunes that these songs came from. They even included some of the cool gags from Top Secret, the Bionic Commando Podcast, like the Go Go, Bionic! Chant by Takeshita-san. The wait for BC:R is definitely easier to take when rocking out, especially to Power Plant, the remix of Area 08's theme. The techno style may not be for everyone, but it's a definite stylistic choice made by Viklund and it has worked out well, contrasting with the new 3D Bionic Commando's heavy orchestra. A worthy buy for any Bionic Commando or VG music fan.

This is GUI J host of The Gamers Pub Podcast, and Bionic Commando was a benchmark game in my childhood. The BC Podcast is great, and if this soundtrack is any indication of the time, and quality, the Dev team is putting into Rearmed, it will set a standard for how all old school remakes should be handled. Cheers fellows the pub salutes you!
Nostalgic but still New!!!!
Now some people might give it 4 stars for the fact it falls somewhere between a Remix/Rearranged/Re-imagining of the original Nintendo soundtrack, but it fits Rearmed perfectly!!! It what the designers of BCR were hoping for and every BC fan could ever want: a soundtrack to a game for the Next-Gen consoles that’s a Remixed, Rearranged, and Re-imagined 8-bit Nintendo game. Having been a fan of the 8-bit era of videogames it's easy to see the influence this soundtrack possesses. Even more so, being an absolute fanatic of the Bionic Commando franchise, I believe this to be a crowning achievement in not only videogame soundtracks but it surpasses any BC soundtrack before it. I get goose-bumps listening to it!! Thank you, Simon Viklund, for making me feel 10 years-old all over again! This fact alone merits the Fifth star.
