Album Review

Black Cocaine is the first release from Mobb Deep since member Prodigy finished a three-year prison sentence, and as promised by the crew, it serves to whet the fan's appetite for a full album. As such, it's scattershot and sounds just as good on shuffle, but it's strong, featuring five nostalgic bangers that recall the Mobb's early thugging. Production is handled by Mobb member Havoc, frequent collaborator the Alchemist, and the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, who offer funk-flavored keyboards and '80s rock guitars on the key track and closer "Last Days."
