Album Review

Sizzla's Black Woman & Child is one of the most highly regarded dancehall albums in the genre. It has been very hard to find in America since its original release in 1997, but VP Records has tried to keep the distribution of the album going, even re-releasing it in early 2002. The album is thought of highly because of its positive message and political leanings, something that the genre usually lacks. Fans of the genre should try to give this a listen.

Find out why Sizzla is number one in Jamaica

Sizzla exploded onto the scene with Praise Ye Jah in 1998 and has remained at the top of the charts ever since. This is his second VP release from 1998. If you are a casual reggae listener it may take a few listens to understand the power and tonality of Sizzla's voice. After that you are hooked. This is a rare cd so you're lucky that you get it at this price and in this way. Give it a try. Sizzla's cd Da Real Thing from 1992 is widely recoginized as the greatest single cd in the history of reggae music. Since it's not available here (yet) this is a great start. VP is the premier reggae record label in the world and this cd shows why. If you're not sure then purchase the first 3 songs and think about it, but at this price I'd get all 17. There are no bad songs.

SIZZLA'S BEST EFFORT

Reggae Music as it was meant to be listened. Contrary to the editors comments this is Reggae music blanket statements should not be made about Jamaican Music. Reggae is Reggae and Dancehall is its commercial cousin, the two should not to be confused. Sizzla has been able to hit home to the heart with well written lyrical content and awesome music.

Classic!!! Still And Always

By The Way Apple Where Is the Real Thing Come on Record Company's Release the cd so fans can get some good Sizzla music,Fans buy and everyone makes green.

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Emerging during the latter half of the '90s, the enormously prolific Sizzla was one of the leaders of the conscious dancehall movement. Along with Buju Banton and Capleton, he helped lead dancehall back to the musical and spiritual influence of roots reggae, favoring organic productions and heavily Rastafarian subject matter. A member of the militant Bobo Ashanti sect, he sometimes courted controversy with his strict adherence to their views, particularly his aggressive condemnations of homosexuals...
